One of the most common questions asked by the Overwatch community is a simple one: which Hero should I play? There’s no “correct” answer and any potential guess hinges on a lot of different factors, from your prior experience with FPS games to the level of Hero complexity you’re comfortable with.
Honestly? That’s way too much pressure, so we’re looking to the stars for some help. Whether you’re new to Overwatch (welcome!) or wondering what Hero to learn next to rack up progression rewards, we’re here with some suggestions based on your Zodiac sun sign.
Aries (March 21 – April 19)As the de facto first sign of the Western Zodiac, Aries always leads the charge, even if it gives their healers a minor panic attack. Competitive and energetic, you might find yourself drawn to Heroes who share your fearless mindset, like
Mauga and
Junker Queen, who never shy away from direct confrontation or hearty banter. For the more cautious Aries,
Kiriko and
Tracer offer opportunities to dive in along with abilities that let you escape unscathed.
Taurus (April 20 – May 20)No matter where they currently stand, Taurus would rather be somewhere more comfortable with a tasty snack in their hand. These resilient homebodies are gifted with the patience and stubbornness to hold their ground and protect the ones they love. Overwatch’s stalwart protectors
Reinhardt and
Torbjörn might suit your personality and sense of humor. Omnic defender
Bastion—especially in Artillery mode—is the absolute personification of Taurean stubbornness. If you’d rather recline in floral luxury until your services are required,
Lifeweaver is the support Hero for you.
Gemini (May 21 – June 20)Quick-witted and playful, Geminis are highly adaptable but also a little erratic. Multitasking comes easily to you. Unfortunately, so does boredom. You have a mind that excels at juggling lots of complex abilities or constant movement around the map. Sneaky hacker
Sombra and soundwave healer
Lúcio will keep you busy
and make the most of your penchant for zipping and zooming around. Both
Cassidy and Overwatch’s newest tank Hero,
Hazard, require constant repositioning and quick thinking.
Cancer (June 21 – July 22)Cancers are known for their deep empathy and ability to almost psychically read the emotions (and strategies) of those around them. Loyal and protective, they shine when enabling their allies. Though he goes with the flow,
Wuyang is fiercely protective of his team and keeps them safe through any hardship. Ice expert
Mei has a similar mindset and the dual protective/defensive kit to prove it.
Zarya literally shields her allies in battle, but understanding the exact timing required to take full advantage of her kit is ideal for an intuitive Cancer.
Leo (July 23 – August 22)Of all the signs in the Zodiac, nobody “suffers” with main character syndrome like Leos. You crave being in the spotlight and love making clip-worthy plays for your team. Pro gamer
D.Va and cyborg ninja
Genji have the game-changing, explosive abilities (and RGB lighting) to cater to a Leo’s tastes.
Pharah is another great option: she rules the skies from above and specializes in showstopping hits. Support is mostly a background role, but
Baptiste’s suave personality and clutch skills will lure in any lion.
Virgo (August 23 – September 22)Logical and practical perfectionists, Virgos have the patience to wait for the ideal offensive opportunity. You likely don’t mind hitting the Practice Range to solidify your skills and learn new ways to destroy the enemy team’s dreams. Snipers like
Widowmaker and
Ashe fit perfectly into your wheelhouse. Success as
Zenyatta rides on knowing the ideal time to strike and Overwatch’s fearless leader,
Winston, also takes a Virgo’s patience to master.
Libra (September 23 – October 22)You champion balance and equality while often keeping the peace between warring parties; it’s stressful being a Libra sometimes! Though you may veer into the lane of people pleasing, you’re a loyal friend who loves enabling allies and wrangling your squad together. No one embodies the Libra mentality like
Mercy, effortlessly shifting between healing vibes and damage boosting with a bonus pistol if you get on her bad side. Supportive damage dealers like
Soldier: 76 and
Symmetra may fit your profile while
Orisa is your tank pick for her blend of offense and kindhearted defense.
Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)One of the most misunderstood signs of the Zodiac, Scorpios appear mysterious and emotional on the outside but secretly crave flashy plays and heroism just as much as Leos do. You may need to emotionally connect with a Hero to truly enjoy playing them:
Ramattra and
Illari come with built-in tragic backstories to enhance their personalities. As a bonus, they’re also heavy hitters in the right hands. You also do well with sneaky strategic plays, so
Hanzo (a fellow Scorpio) and
Reaper will offer ample opportunities to put down big damage without getting caught early.
Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)No one chases adventure like a Sagittarius. You constantly seek out new opportunities and knowledge, never satisfied with the status quo (or sitting still too long). Mobile, active Heroes that offer variety and depth should suit you perfectly.
Echo is the most Sagittarius-coded Hero thanks to her identity-borrowing ultimate, effectively requiring you to understand the basics of the entire Overwatch roster. If that’s a bit too much commitment,
Wrecking Ball’s swift movement and endless parkour hacks should keep you entertained. Both mentally and spiritually,
Ana embodies the Sagittarius mindset: you’re here, but you’d rather be on vacation in Fiji.
Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)Responsible and relentlessly patient, Capricorns are the workhorses of the Zodiac. You might be exhausted from solving other people’s problems, but you also have the work ethic to learn a difficult Hero and keep your team grounded in reality.
Doomfist and
Freja both require extensive practice and the common sense to not take an unwinnable fight. Steadfast support
Brigitte has a kit with surprising depth that could keep a Capricorn busy.
Venture is the most literal representation of an Earth sign, but they appeal more to your grounded personality and penchant for drawing aggression away from softer allies.
Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)Every party needs a weirdo and Aquarians are happy to take on that role. The world says you’re innovative and progressive, but let’s be real: there’s nothing you love more than starting a little chaos. Boredom bothers you more than a little shrapnel does, so aggressively offensive Heroes—like codependent outback wildcards
Junkrat and
Roadhog—suit your love of anarchy. Morally gray Heroes like
Moira also pique your interest and keep you guessing, even when it comes to your own next move.
Pisces (February 19 – March 20)Idealism seeps from the pores of every Pisces and if anyone embodies the hopeful message of Overwatch, it’s you. Sensitive and empathetic, you need to play a Hero that strives for a better world—even if it’s just within the expanse of their own mind. Physicist
Sigma is called to a melody beyond our understanding, but a Pisces could probably catch the tune. Former Overwatch commander
Sojourn may seem jaded by her experiences, but her strength facilitates her relentless pursuit of a softer, safer world. Any Pisces will immediately feel connected to
Juno’s magnetic enthusiasm and idealistic view of a vast, beautiful universe.
