Почему я спросил: читал недавно интервью с Близзкона, в котором утверждалось прямо противоположное. А именно:
Wired.com: This sort of goes back to the economy, but are there any plans to ever lower WoW’s subscription? Do you ever see it going free to play at some point?
Sams: I don’t know. The fact is that the WoW experience is exceptionally expensive for us. We have thousands of customer service people around the world to support the game. We have hundreds of technical folks that are just keeping the systems and networks up and running smooth, doing the maintenance, making sure upgrades are being done, all that kind of stuff. We’ve got the dev team, which is a really high-end and experienced development team. Those folks aren’t cheap either. There’s all this infrastructure and all these people, and if we want to continue to support that game and pump new content into it.
The fact is when you talk about the number of people, sheer people cost, which is always the most expensive line item in your budget, it’s hard to imagine that we would go free. I can’t tell you that that would never happen but I can’t see that in our foreseeable future. But I think overtime, it would be crazy to say that there wouldn’t be a possibility that the business model changes at some point in the lifecycle but I don’t see that anytime soon. The reason I’m answering it that way is because I want to take the position of “never say never,” but it’s hard to imagine.
